Sadly, "Gullak" Season 4, which fans of the endearing Mishra family had been eagerly awaiting, falls short of its predecessors. This endearing series's previous seasons raised the bar with their outstanding performances and accessible writing, but the most recent installment disappoints in a number of ways, making for an uneventful viewing experience.
The pacing of Season 4 is among its main problems. The storyline is too extended, with episodes that seem to go on forever without much progress or interest. The taut, precise narrative that characterised the first several seasons is lost as a result. It's hard for fans to keep interested when the series' charm and wit seem diminished.
This season's performances are just another disappointment. Season 4's portrayal of the cast, which includes Jameel Khan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Harsh Mayar, lacks the same lustre and genuineness as previous seasons. The characters now seem to be going through the motions, which makes the story less compelling and affecting. Previously, the characters felt like a true portrayal of a middle-class Indian family.
In contrast, the storytelling and acting in the previous season were far superior. Comedy and passion were skillfully balanced in Season 3, giving viewers enjoyable and thought-provoking episodes. Season 4, on the other hand, finds it difficult to strike this equilibrium, which results in a number of dull and uninspired episodes.
Even with these flaws, "Gullak" Season 4 manages to hold onto some of its initial appeal. Although the show's capacity to highlight the joys and daily hardships of a middle-class family is still present, the execution lacks the same impact as previously. Though these are much too seldom, the relatable moments and sporadic comedic outbursts serve as a helpful reminder to viewers of why they fell in love with the Mishra family.
