The highly anticipated Bollywood thriller Drishyam 3 has recently become the centre of a heated off-screen controversy even before filming began. What was expected to be a smooth continuation of the successful Drishyam franchise starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu has instead been marked by legal drama following the sudden exit of actor Akshaye Khanna. The controversy arose when Akshaye Khanna, originally signed to reprise his role, unexpectedly left the film just weeks before the start of principal photography. Reports suggest that disagreements over remuneration and creative differences, including issues related to the character, led to the breakdown in relations between the actor and the production team. His exit was especially surprising because contracts had already been signed and advance payments made.

Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak expressed strong disappointment at Khanna’s departure, stating that the actor had breached the agreement by leaving so close to the start of shooting. The production team also claimed that Khanna was unresponsive to communication attempts, and a legal notice was issued to recover losses caused by his sudden exit.
