Bollywood is exploring a new combination of mythology, fantasy and horror with Vishkanya, an upcoming film reportedly being developed by Dharma Productions. The project has attracted attention for bringing together Rajkummar Rao and Pratibha Ranta in a story that is expected to move beyond conventional horror.
According to reports published this week, Vishkanya is being directed by Sonal Joshi, who previously directed Sukhee. Pratibha Ranta is reportedly set to play the titular character, while Rajkummar Rao will headline the project alongside her. The reported casting has not yet been accompanied by detailed official plot information, so many story elements remain under wraps.
A Different Kind of Horror
What makes Vishkanya interesting is its reported approach to the genre.
